Build a simple responsive web app called “NYC Neighborhood Lens” using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on top of NYC Open Data.
The goal is to make NYC Open Data easier for residents to explore without requiring them to know which individual datasets or city agencies to search.
Let the user select a NYC neighborhood or borough, then use public NYC Open Data APIs to pull a few useful indicators from different datasets, such as 311 complaints, traffic collisions, restaurant inspections, and street trees.
The page should include:
A neighborhood/borough selector
A few summary cards showing important statistics
A simple map showing relevant locations
A small trend chart for one metric over time
A comparison option between two neighborhoods
Links back to the original NYC Open Data datasets so users can inspect the source
Keep the interface simple and readable. Clearly show the dataset source and last-updated date for each metric, and do not invent values when data is unavailable.
